Catch Those Chiefs and Ravens If You Can

The excitement the Ravens and Chiefs generated last season should have argued for at least a late afternoon start. This battle of unbeatens is the most important game in Week Three. While the games involving the Patriots, Packers and Cowboys are not terribly interesting, we have a few other matches Sunday that should provide enough sparks.
Perhaps the top game this weekend is the Ravens visiting the Chiefs — sporting the NFL’s #1 and #3 offenses, respectively. Admittedly, rankings are dubious after only two games, but what we have seen so far has been pure fireworks.
QB Lamar Jackson and WR Marquise Brown will face off against QB Patrick Mahomes and WRs Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson — and the Raven D had better not forget about TE Travis Kelce.
Actually, though, the key to the game may be the two teams’ running attacks. The Ravens are tentatively #1, thanks to the power of RB Mark Ingram and elusiveness of Lamar Jackson. Can the Chiefs' D handle that wicked Raven RPO?
Speaking of the RPO, another of Sunday’s biggest games is the Falcons visiting the Colts. The Falcons’ defense (#3 after two weeks) will get to see if their practice against the RPO (as run by the Panthers and the Bucs) helps them against the explosive QB Jacoby Brissett and other Colt weapons like (#3 ranked rusher) RB Marlon Mack, WR TY Hilton and tough TEs Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle.
That quick Colt defense will get a test from the Falcons’ top-ranked receiving corps — WRs Mohammed Sanu, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. The Colts will need pass pressure, led by veteran tackle Denico Autry. The Falcons will likely try to slow pass pressure by improving their running attack, which was anemic in both of the first two contests.
The Eagles, trying to recover from a bruising defeat in Atlanta, will host the unpredictable Lions. While the Eagles hunt for replacement receivers, Matt Stafford is blessed with four dangerous targets, including Kenny Golladay. The Eagles will hope their stout defense can stifle the Lion O, while the Eagle offense leans heavily on young RB Miles Sanders.
In one of the best late games Sunday, the Seahawks take on the Saints without Drew Brees. Since the Saints have never done very well in noisy, wet Seattle, they will need a stellar performance from QB Teddy Bridgewater, RB Alvin Kamara and the NFL's top receiver, Michael Thomas. But I think the Saints' greatest need is for improvement by that offensive line, which has let them down in two straight losses to the Rams.
I also expect to see a very lively competition when the Rams visit the Browns, who now have a top-10 defense to go with that impressive offense — QB Baker Mayfield getting the ball to WRs Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham. RB Nick Chubb is no slouch either. This game is on SNF, so there is no excuse for missing it.
