This evening I was sad and lonely. I haven't been feeling well, and I'm experiencing the discomfort that getting old can sometimes bring.

As I read some of the articles, I discovered one that was written by a young woman with whom I had corresponded a while back. Odd, but as we grow older, time has a way of moving much faster. I wrote to her asking that she send me a copy of the article she had written, and I look forward to her reply.

I have experienced some rather hard knocks lately. The apartment where we were living burned, and I lost clothes and books that had been very significant in my personal and teaching life for a very long time.

My daughter has been very ill, and I have had her on my mind constantly. So in light of my love of writing poetry, I have been sending her a poem each morning, hoping that it will brighten her day.

Oddly enough, The Latest has become an extension of my personal family. Some of the contributors have come to feel that way. I recognize their names, and have had the sense that I know some of them after reading their words.  

The decision to create this blog was an extremely wise one. It has a way of doing away with loneliness and providing a different kind of home for others, I'm sure. 

My thanks go out to those creative people who brought this blog to life, and to the wonderful folks who are responsible for putting it together each day. I have to wonder whether these people have received the recognition I sincerely believe they deserve. 

In any event, this is my way of saying thanks, and hoping that I may continue to contribute.
