The 38-year -old Grammy-award winning singer can add another notch to her belt. She will interview Dr. Jill Biden on her three-time Emmy-award winning NBC talk show on Thursday, February 25.

This is going to be big! Kelly Clarkson, y'all, is traveling to Washington, DC to interview Dr. Jill Biden for a White House edition of her popular afternoon talker The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Clarkson is perhaps the most famous American Idol winner (2002) and certainly the most accomplished, next to Carrie Underwood, the winner in 2005. When she was first approached to host the talk show, Clarkson was reluctant. After all, she had no experience in that arena and was fully deployed as a host of the Voice along with singing obligations.

But she acquiesced and apparently was talked into the position by executives at NBCUniversal like Paul Telegdy, President of Alternative Programming who later became head of the network's syndication division. Telegdy recognized her talent to draw an audience in and be very relatable.

I enjoy the show. It has engaging elements, like Kellyoke, where Clarkson opens with some audience-requested songs, accompanied by her touring band. A wide range of celebrity guests have been booked, from Josh Groban, Holly Hunter and Ted Danson to Misty Copeland.

Clarkson seems at ease talking to everybody. She interviews regular folks and shows compassion for all, like when she was instrumental in reuniting a homeless man with his family.

Kelly Clarkson has the first TV interview that new First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will do -- from inside the White House in the East Room. I think it was a bit of brilliance on Mrs. Biden's part, or her staff's, to accept the interview with Clarkson. The Kelly Clarkson Show has extensive viewership and ratings.

It seems that the 69-year-old Dr. Biden might be trying to appeal to a younger demographic, too. Her husband, Pres. Joe Biden, was viewed by some as 'too old' to throw his hat into the presidential race. Even comedian Rosie O'Donnell, herself a liberal, was slammed for echoing the opinion that the current president was too long in the tooth to be considered.

But President Biden is disproving all of the naysayers because he seems to be keeping up with it all quite nicely. The First Lady was also subjected to criticism for calling herself 'Doctor' Jill Biden. She holds an Ed.D. and therefore is not a 'real' doctor, say critics. However, it is her personal choice to use the title 'doctor' before her name if she is comfortable with it.

The First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will have Clarkson perform a song she has selected (yet to be revealed) on the show. Mrs. Biden will talk about education, a subject close to her heart as a community college educator, and military families, cancer research, and her wish to unite the country.

Melania Trump did her first TV interview as the former First Lady with Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC. Clarkson, who has identified as Republican, spoke out against former President Trump, although she never formally endorsed a candidate in 2020.

Clarkson said she is 'excited' about the interview. Mark your calendar for Thursday, February 25.
