We never know when life will bring surprises. Today was one of those days for me. I had apparently lost an article I wrote for The Latest, and sent an e-mail to the man who started it all. Although that article is still missing, it inspired the words I have written here. It seemed only appropriate that I share this with the world.
Today I had a wonderful experience. After having somehow lost the copy of an article I had written for THE LATEST, I called the man who started this extraordinary site. His kindness and interest were beyond refreshing. Living in this world, it is rare to find individuals with the humanistic approach he exudes, as well as his desire to help.
The relationship that I have enjoyed writing for THE LATEST has been a life changer for me. Having spent all of my life writing, the thrill of seeing my words on the site has provided me with a center that was sorely missing.
As one grows older, it becomes difficult to find that particular way in which one can constructively use whatever gifts they have been fortunate enough to have been given in a way that not only fills time, but also provides a home of sorts where one can go to meet other people who are contributors as well. My use of the word "meet" is not accidental. And although I concern myself with the loss of our humanity, which can often be the by product of the technology that appears to have taken control of this world, my affiliation with THE LATEST has been a learning tool as I read what others have written as well.
The article which I somehow lost, dealt with my concerns as they relate to the technological universe that appears to have monopolized much of human thinking and communication. However, had the accidental loss of my words not initiated this new experience, I might not have encountered Mr. Jeff Hall, the CEO, and so in the final analysis, felt inspired to write what I am placing on this page.
What comes to mind in all of this is that nothing appears to happen accidentally, and I seem to remember having written something in that vein for THE LATEST. Although I complain regularly of the negative effects of aging, a reality emerges here. Life has a way of opening our eyes to the truth when we least expect it. Had I not been who I am and found myself involved in writing for this wonderful website, today might have been a dull, unexciting one. Instead, it magically brought a reason for me to write these word, after contacting someone who immediately took an interest in my plight and put special light around this day I was fortunate to find myself in the midst of living.
One could easily argue that this article was supposed to be written, and if it is nothing but a thank you note to someone I now consider a friend in need, that would be OK with me. For over an hour, I returned to my computer doing what I most enjoy doing, and that is putting the words that come from my heart on the screen. In addition, I was learning something important. Computers, if used constructively can help us open new doors to seeing what is really significant.
