Welcome To Fall — of the NFL Elite

Shakespeare once wrote: “Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.” In Week Three of the NFL, the seemingly-unbeatable Bills fell to the Dolphins, the Chiefs were chopped by the Colts, and the Bucs were bucked by the Packers. Monday night, the Cowboys felled the Giants, knocking them from the ranks of the unbeaten. Can fans remain sane when, in every single division race, uncertainty rules?
After just three weeks of play, there are two undefeated teams left — the Eagles and Dolphins. Equally important: there is only one 0-3 team in the league — the Raiders. Fans in every city must face up to the fact that we have no idea how this season will play out, no idea who will win even a single division in the NFL. Even the Eagles and Dolphins are resting uneasily.
As leaves begin to fall, tension persists. In Week Four, my game of the week again falls on Thursday night. The Bengals, having claimed their first win, are hunting the AFC-leading Dolphins. On Sunday, the red-hot Ravens are hoping to further defund the Bills' Super Bowl campaign. Over in the NFC, the Lions have been playing very well and may be close to challenging the Packers and Vikings in the North. Out West, the Rams will try to put some distance between themselves and the 49ers.
In the weekend’s second-most intriguing match, the Chiefs and Bucs try to rebound from last weekend’s losses. One of the best interconference showdowns of the season, this matchup will have repercussions throughout the entire NFL.
Talk about uncertainty! Last weekend, more than half of the NFL’s 16 games went right down to the wire — the average margin of victory was a mere 3 points. But that makes it all the more fun to predict each and every match. I notched a respectable 9-7 record last week.
Here are all the Week Four matches — and my picks:
1. Dolphins at Bengals Bengals TNF
2. Vikings at Saints Vikings
3. Browns at Falcons Falcons
4. Bills at Ravens Ravens
5. Commanders at Cowboys Cowboys
6. Seahawks at Lions Lions
7. Chargers at Texans Texans
8. Titans at Colts Colts
9. Bears at Giants Giants
10. Jaguars at Eagles Eagles
11. Jets at Steelers Steelers
12. Cardinals at Panthers Panthers
13. Patriots at Packers Packers
14. Broncos at Raiders Raiders
15. Chiefs at Bucs Chiefs SNF
16. Rams at 49ers Rams MNF
In yet one more week of abject uncertainty, I like to recall another of Shakespeare’s quotes: “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." It's a sport. Entertainment. So, I think this type of uncertainty is very good. Enjoy!
There were a number of impressive performances in Week 3, whether it was the Miami Dolphins outlasting the Buffalo Bills...
