Our form of government, a democratic republic, was built on citizens electing representatives by popular vote and having those elected officials represent their constituents who elected them into office. The concept is sort of like having a proxy vote, where the elected politician votes on laws and subjects based on what his or her constituents want. Today, that process does not exist.

Today, we rather have officials who represent their own interests or, worse yet, allow other elected “mouthpieces” to dictate how the remaining elected politicians will vote and speak on behalf of every politician within each party.

We no longer have elected officials representing we, the people. We have instead those who neither think for themselves or their constituents, nor have the backbone to stand up and actually be counted to do the right thing for their constituents. Today, self-appointed spokespersons in the House and in the Senate decide for every other elected politician how they all will vote, obstruct and otherwise throw a tantrum that borders on treason to control our country and its political system and at no point do we hear from any sane politician willing to stand up for his or her constituents to speak up about his or her passion to do what is right and to move this country forward. They are OK with being shut up and shut out.

On the other side, some are so disconnected that each one finds it difficult to come together for making progress on any subject. There is no order, no plan and no group thinking; there is simply an attempt to make his or her own way with no regard to doing what is right for the country. In the end, what do we have? Exactly what we have right now – total chaos, full obstruction and no progress.

The progressives have succeeded in changing our country as the leadership bullies both their own and those who do not agree with their agenda on both sides. With no representation of those who elected these politicians, there is no more Republic. When elected officials consciously choose to stop doing their job to let one person decide the country's fate, there is no need to continue electing these failures to office to make back room deals, get rich, pad their own pockets and checking accounts, and still get a lifelong retirement that has never been earned while they leave their constituents in the dust.

I fail to understand why these citizens continue to vote these undeserving, no-value politicians back into office to amass their fortunes with no value of service back. If the entire shaping of our country's future is based on only four elected representatives in both houses, we can eliminate a great portion of our national debt by saving all of the salaries of the inactive ones and let them all go home. They have proven they have no value. Let’s find people who will bring value back to us and to our country.
