For a long time, my husband and I have continued to go to the Bingo parlor that is located in a casino just around the corner. This has been a habit that we refuse to discontinue, as it is an easy choice when we have nothing else to do.

We have reached the point where we see people who treat us like old friends, when in reality we haven't spoken to them regarding who we are or why we are also there.

What is so saddening is that many of the players spend far more money than we do, and in light of the small amount we have chosen to invest in the game, the chances of our winning are lessened considerably.

One has to wonder why we continue to make a "contribution" to the casino, when we both know that what we are doing is a waste of time. I am sure that it isn't a matter of luck, although we want to hang on to the dream that our luck will overcome the issue of how little we spend. 

The very occasional wins we have enjoyed, and I mean very occasional, are why we seem to take advantage of the convenience of having a place to go when we are bored. This tends to keep us going back, hoping that a miracle will reoccur. What is silly is that we generally go home feeling blue, and one has to question why we haven't yet given up on that particular spot, or at least chosen another place to go, where we just may win.

I do remember going with him to a different Bingo parlor some time back, and he won a big one.T hat was a tremendous kick, but it is a distance from where we live. He insists that he remembers which casino it was, but I am not as sure. Even though he may be correct, there is no guarantee that the miracle will happen again.

Today we have plans to go to play Bingo in order to fill another day. The question is whether we should go back to the place of which I have been complaining here.

As I have shared with my readers before, we are two very senior citizens who no longer have regular jobs, and live in a city where there is always something to do when life hangs heavy.

People come here to Las Vegas for their yearly vacations, and naturally they go to the casinos with similar dreams. For us there are different outlets for our time, but we always know that there is somewhere to kill an hour when we need to.

Writing for THE LATEST is only one of the pleasurable things I do. We both have a panoply of activities we choose that give us joy and a sense of accomplishment, and the question remains whether this Bingo thing is costing us more than it should.
